Tonight while I was on the phone with Dad, Phoebe started to do the shaking thing again.
This makes me very nervous because today we've also had another symptom.....diarrhea.
I put a polo shirt on her to see if maybe she is just cold and that seemed to help and she fell asleep on the couch and didn't do anymore shaking. She is still up there sleeping, so I hope she is doing well.
I'm going to keep a watchful eye on her tonight. If we have anymore shaking or diarrhea, I'm calling the vet right at 8 a.m. (that is when they open) to see if I can bring her in.
Or if things get worse overnight I do have the Animal ER just down the street.
*sigh*
Dad said the shaking could just be from her recent haircut, the "no meat on her bones" and the fact that Mom likes to keep the house rather chilly. :o) Hopefully that is all it is.
I'll keep you posted.
January 20, 2008 my poodle Phoebe was diagnosed with Addison's disease. She passed away on June 30, 2008, but in her memory I'm going to keep this blog going. I love you Phoebe.

No Butt Phoebe
Since Phoebe got her haircut on Sunday, and the fact that she is down to 13 pounds, we are having a hard time keeping the diapers on her butt!
We have to make sure to get those tabs on nice and tight or before long the diaper just slides right off her skinny tush!

Update
Phoebe stopped shaking and shivering overnight.
Mom thinks maybe she was just cold? (which is possible since she got a haircut on Sunday so has a lot less fur right now.)
Phoebe slept fine (on my heating pad) all night long without anymore shaking symptoms.
I did make an appointment with the vet to have her electrolytes checked on Saturday morning. If she has anymore symptoms during the week I will have her go in sooner.

worried
Phoebe has been shivering/shaking tonight.
Not a lot, like when she was first sick, but from time to time she shivers as if she is cold.
If this continues throughout the night I'm going to call the vet first thing in the morning.
For those that are not familiar with the symptoms of Addison's Disease here are the symptoms:
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Lethargy
Depression
Lack of appetite
Tremors or shaking
Muscle weakness
Pain in hind quarters
I will keep you posted on whether or not I take her to the vet tomorrow.
When I posted earlier and said everything was going well, she was sitting on the chair with her Grandma, so I didn't know she was shaking. Mom said that she did it for awhile and then stopped. She did the same thing when we came down to bed.

a good night's sleep?
What's that?!?!
Phoebe is still in mega drink mode right now.
She's such a good girl though and knows to wake me up to go outside and not pee in the diaper that she is wearing.....but that means I'm getting up every couple of hours.
Obviously I'm exhausted.
But ya know what?
SO WHAT! I'll be sleep deprived for as long as it takes as long as I have my Phoebe HERE with me and having her HEALTHY.
She is due to have her electrolytes checked. I'm gonna make an appointment for this weekend. I'm also curious to see what she weighs.
Nothing else new except that we wish the weather would WARM UP so we could go for our WALKS like we did LAST WEEK!!!!!!!!!!

While Grandma exercises.....
Help! We Need Haircuts!
Water water water
Phoebe is drinking A LOT of water right now.
It's crazy.
It's the medication causing this but egads, I wish she would lighten up on the drinking.
She hasn't peed in her diaper, but that's because she wakes me up every 2 hours in the middle of the night to have to go potty. I'm grateful she knows to wake me up, but yeah, I'm TIRED.
This is my life now.
Diaper duty.
Numerous potty breaks.
Fill the water bowl!
I'm not complaining though, she is HERE and other then the excessive drinking she is doing quite well. :o) (I do wish she would gain a pound or two....)
Well, I've decided not to wait for that darn sun they keep saying is supposed to come out today and take the girls for a walk. If it does come out maybe later this afternoon we will go for a second walk.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Henry's house!

We spent the afternoon at Henry's house today.
The first hour we spent outside.....the girls had LOTS of fun....but got very very very dirty!
I'm not quite sure what they rolled in. Due to the nasty SMELL I believe it was a combo of mud and poop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obviously they had to get baths IMMEDIATELY.
They had fun and that is all that matters.
We always have fun at Henry's house!

Latest vet visit
Phoebe's appointment this morning went really well.
They just gave her the injection, they did not take her blood, but did suggest that she come back in a few weeks to make sure her electrolytes are still good.
If I had any concerns they would have done a blood test today, but since she has had no Addison's symptoms return (shaking, lack of appetite, vomiting, lethargic) they were okay with waiting a few weeks.
When we were checking out and paying our bill (which was only $5.00!) there was a King Charles Cavalier puppy named Sammy who was in to get fixed. HE WAS SOOOO CUTE. He gave me lots and lots of kisses, which made his owner giggle. :o)
Oh, one concern after today.
Phoebe is back to 13 lbs.
The vet said it could be the scale, 'cuz last time she was weighed in the other exam room.....but it still worries me. She IS eating, but if you look at her, you can REALLY tell she's thinner then she used to be (before she got sick.) I guess 13 lbs. is still an okay weight for her breed, but I hope she doesn't get any thinner!

Next Vet Appointment
Phoebe will be getting her next injection for her Addison's disease on Thursday morning....so that means that once again her diaper free nights will soon be over. :o(
BOTH girls are seriously in need of a haircut. I will have to take some pictures of how they are looking right now to show everyone. They are shaggy girls!

Frisky Phoebe
Phoebe was really frisky today. Playful. It was wonderful to see. :o)
I feel so lucky to have her here with me.
It was only a few months ago that I almost lost her. I don't take any moment for granted anymore.....which is why I should get off the computer and snuggle with her!
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
We sure did!
Back to work tomorrow.
Blech. :o(

Lazy Saturday
The girls and I have had a very lazy Saturday.
Since it was too cold to be outside and we didn't want to go with some of the family to see Bob from The Biggest Loser at MOA (honestly I have no clue who the guy is!), we stayed home and had a Battlestar Galactica marathon on the couch. (Bought season 3 with some of my birthday Target gift card money. THANK YOU MOM, DAD, HENRY, DEBBIE AND GAIL!)
In between episodes we took naps.
It's been a rough day!
Phoebe is doing REALLY well. She's due for her next injection on the 17th. So far there is no sign of her declining and needed the meds sooner (at this point I'm to watch her very carefully and if there is any sign of weakness, loss of appetite, etc. she is to go in IMMEDIATELY. God! No wonder I'm on a Rx for Xanax!) She's doing really well though and in fact has not had a diaper in since Thursday night when we were gone to Wyatt's confirmation where I was his sponsor. :o) :o) :o) Phillip, I'll be yours if ya want me too! That was awesome!
Well, my BSG marathon continues.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend despite the crap weather.

Vet visit
The girls vet appointment this morning went well, though we were there for over 45 minutes because it was very very busy.
The waiting room was full.
One of the dogs, a bulldog named Lola would not stop barking OR farting (at first I thought I'd stepped on something icky before walking in and caused the smell, but then it was commented on by a worker at the vet "Oh Lola, you're gassy today!")
Lola was a sweetie, just LOUD and STINKY.
Our visit was to have the heartworm tests done and also Phoebe was due for a rabies shot. I was nervous about them taking blood from Phoebe 'cuz that has not gone well at all the last few visits. This time though, her vein shared the blood almost instantly. Even the vet was relieved. :o)
Sabrina cried the entire time we were there.
From the moment we walked in the door until we left.
45 minutes of nonstop crying.
Needless to say we were exhausted by the time we got home and took a nice long nap.
When we got up we took a nice long walk because the weather was so AWESOME!
*fingers crossed* tomorrow's weather will be just as nice and we can go for another long walk!
We hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Phoebe the Pest
When I got home from work last night I was told by Phoebe's Grandma that Phoebe "has a bug up her butt" meaning that she was a PEST and wouldn't leave Grandma alone.
Phoebe gets in these weird "I DEMAND CONSTANT ATTENTION!" moods once an awhile.
It IS annoying.
Sabrina was the well behaved dog yesterday.
Yes, it has been known to happen!
Other then being needy, Phoebe is doing really well. I'm the one that is having issues. Just some stupid fatigue and achy bones that are thanks to my arthritis.
I was asleep by 8:30 last night I was so tired! I was asleep around that time on Wednesday night too!
Thank Goodness the weekend is almost here!
TGIF!

National Poetry Month
My friend Deb mentioned it is National Poetry Month. Well, the only poet I like (or understand) is Shel Silverstein.
Still, I wanted to find a poem to post here on Phoebe's blog and I found one that is perfect:
MY HEART BELONGS TO A POODLE
Classy and sassy,
Proud and fine-
A Poodle has stolen
This heart of mine.
Sensitive nature,
A heart of pure gold-
The eyes of a poodle
Can capture your soul.
Loyal and loving,
A friendship so sweet-
Having a Poodle
Makes my life complete.
I found it doing a google search. It came from this website:
