Phoebe Remembrance Month

September has been "Phoebe Remembrance Month". I hope you all enjoyed it. I know I did. Though every day is Phoebe Remembrance Day for me. She is in my thoughts, my dreams, my prayers every day. I thought I'd post two of the best pictures I ever received. It was after my Phoebe died. They were done by my nephew Jared and niece Kaitlin. Both drawings are framed and hanging in my bedroom. I will treasure them, always.

I need a white poodle fix!

This past weekend I volunteered at a Humane Society event. It was called Whisker Whirls and it was a dinner for people and their dogs. I was a greeter at the main tent, which was the best spot 'cuz I saw ALL the dogs as they walked the red carpet. :o) :o) :o)

I had hoped to see a white minature or toy poodle. I desperately want to pet a white poodle. Sadly, no white poodles. There was a gorgeous black toy & also a standard that I got to pet. Plus lots of "doodles" and a Maltepoo too. Still no white poodles. I miss my Phoebe and want so badly to pet a dog that looks like my girl did. *sigh*

I had an awesome time at the event. I hope to volunteer again next year!

About a week before my Phoebe passed away I got a pink stroller for her. She was getting too weak to handle going for a walk, but she still wanted to be able to join us and be outside. Phoebe only had a chance to use the stroller twice before she died. After nearly a year of trying to find someone to give the stroller to, there was a patient at the clinic I work at that has two pugs with health problems. I gave the stroller to them and I've been told they love riding in it. :o)

CatS of the week

I'm shocked and dismayed that both Autumn and Summer are still up for adoption at the Humane Society so am including them both in my "Cat of the Week". Don't be fooled by this picture of Summer, she looks a bit pissed off in the photo, but I swear to you she is one of the sweetest cats I've EVER met.

Summer is a 14 year old sweetheart. The moment I opened her cage she came to me and snuggled and purred. My heart aches for her. I hope someone will adopt her. It worries me that at her age it may be harder to find someone. I hope I'm wrong.

I wish I wasn't so shy...

I wish I was a more outgoing person. The Humane Society just e-mailed me their weekly newsletter and they are still looking for volunteers that would be willing to be on the FOX morning news segment "Pick of the Litter". Dang, that would be fun. Unfortunately I'm way too shy (not to mention I do not have the looks or the voice for television! Who would want to listen to my voice on TV or radio? Yuck! It's so babyish!) Mainly I'm too afraid to even try because I'm way too shy. I couldn't handle being in front of a camera. My niece Jane would be awesome....I wish she could do it.

The other volunteer opportunity they have is they are looking to start a Pet Loss Support Group where I volunteer. I wish I wasn't too scared and shy to be able to help with that. I know all too well how hard it is when you lose a beloved pet. I wish I had the guts to help others. Again, I'm way too shy for something like that.

Today would have been Phoebe's 13th birthday. She is in heaven having a party with all her dog cousins who are there with her. Happy Birthday Phoebe! I love you and miss you!

What a sweetheart. I opened his cage and Dunn immediately came to me and started to purr. I spent over 10 minutes petting and snuggling with him. I did not want to stop. He was such a sweetie. I hope he won't be there next weekend. Sadly, the last 2 cats I've had on here as "cat of the week" are both still at the Humane Society, Autumn and Ginger. I just don't get it. Is it because they are more of a lap cat and not a "let's play play play!" kind of cats? I don't know. They need homes and they would be perfect for someone who just wants a companion to hang out with them while they are reading or watching TV.
